Lowcountry Plantation Remodel: July 2007

July 2, 2007 -- The roof is finished (except for painting). The original house is getting siding (you can see it above the new roof).

July 2, 2007 -- The main house needs siding on the other side. The black felt paper is clearly visible. This will be sided today.

July 3, 2007 -- The final siding is being installed on the original part of the house.

July 3, 2007 -- Here is another Old and New. Which half (left or right) is the original house and which half is the new addition?

July 3, 2007 -- This is the kitchen with insulation in place from the laundry room door. (The left half of the previous photo is the new addition).

July 3, 2007 -- This is a view of the kitchen taken from the dining room swinging door. The white box to the left of center is the water heater. The laundry room door is open. The opening to the right of center goes to the hallway and new powder room.

July 3, 2007 -- The walk now has a railing. Since the walk is only a foot or so off the ground, a railing is not really required.

July 9, 2007 -- Sheet rock started Friday. The dining room ceiling sheet rock has been hung.

July 10, 2007 -- The kitchen is getting sheet rock on the ceiling and walls. Next, it has to be finished and then painting can begin.

July 10, 2007 -- This is the dining room. Most of the sheet rock is up here. Finishing will begin in a day or two.

July 10, 2007 -- This is a view towards the stairway and door to the living room. The window is in the stairway.

July 11, 2007 -- Sheet rock is up. It is now being finished. The door near the center leads to the living room. It will be replaced with double doors.

July 11, 2007 -- The kitchen sink will go in front of the windows. Interior painting will begin soon.

July 13, 2007 -- The vent is installed in the Dutch gable. Soon we will have brick steps at the double doors.

July 25, 2007 -- The interior is primed. Kitchen cabinets are ordered. Flooring is ordered. Soon things will start to look finished.

July 25, 2007 -- The dining room is also primed. It will get ceiling beams to match the living roon in the original part of the house.

July 25, 2007 -- The outside painting is complete. The gable vent is painted the green trim color to match the other gable vents on the house.

July 31, 2007 -- Underlayment is being installed for the flooring. The original floor in the house is 1" thick. Today flooring material is thinner, so to make the floors flush, underlayment is needed.

July 31, 2007 -- The steel roof has been painted black to match the original house. The addition is blending in nicely.

July 31, 2007 -- Except for the stickers on the windows and lack of shrubbery, the addition looks like it has been there all along.
